The Zecão Surf School was founded in 1995 at Itamambuca Beach. The school started as a social project whose objective was and still is to promote surf up and down the northern Ubatuba coastline, principally for the regions less privileged children. With the passing of the years, Zecão Surf School has become very well-known within the minds of those who wish to live the dream of gracefully, easily and quickly gliding across waves. By way of a revolutionary method developed by Zecão himself the student in only 2 hours will learn how to surf their very first waves by themselves. Many tourists, artists, kids and elders have had the opportunity and pleasure to learn this marvelous and healthy sport.

During this one on one class the student will learn the basic concepts of the sport, beginning with theoretical and practical activities upon a pedagogical foam board out of the water. Here we will teach the correct way to get up on ones feet and will adjust body positioning for balance on the board. Subsequently, we use the Itamambuca River where we simulate situations in which the student will confront within the ocean. Next, the instructor enters the ocean with the student in a correct and safe location. The student begins by being pushed into a wave and learns the precise time to stand up. Finally, the student learns how to catch and ride a wave by themselves, afterwards all one needs is practice to become a champion!

The Zecão Surf School is open every day starting at 9 in the morning. Located on the right side of one of São Paulo State’s most beautiful beaches, Itamambuca, the beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in the world to surf (great waves for all ages and levels). The school sits underneath an almond tree, which was saved by the school’s students by way of a municipal law project. Truly a lovely place, surrounded by the luscious Atlantic Forest and next to the beautiful Itamambuca River, this all equates into a locale prefect for learning and stimulating the security necessary to practice and evolve within the sport.

We offer all the necessary material, boards, accessories, surfing gear, amongst others. We count on properly trained professional instructors and assistants who attend students of all skill levels - beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional.
